What you will need:

When you purchase your clone or name brand computer, such as Compaq or Dell, you will actually receive a box containing some internal devices such as a CD, floppy drive, and hard drive(s). In addition, you will also receive a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

All of these devices eventually are either inserted into, or wired to flat circuit board inside the computer called a motherboard. Also located on the motherboard is the computer processor and memory chips, among many others. Motherboards also have slots where other cards like modems must be inserted. The special voice processing board that comes with the Voice Service Bureau package plugs into one of these slots.

There are basically 2 types of motherboard slots - EISA (or ISA) and PCI. Depending upon the number of phone lines or ports you choose and purchase from VoiceWorld, it is important that you purchase a computer with that type and number of slots needed.

Motherboards themselves can vary widely in design. Very often computer manufacturers will alter their choice of which to use without any notice because for the most part, they have little effect on conventional software like Microsoft Office or Internet browsers.

However, VoiceWorld's hardware requirements are special, in that it's voice board is more sophisticated and handles much of the actual processing work internally. These special boards generally cost more than the computer itself. Because of this, it is important that your computer have it's 'plug'n'play' feature disabled and also also have a free interrupt available.

The question is how can you know what computer will work and what won't?

Well, other than the basic requirements we have provided you, (speed, memory, etc.), there is no sure way to know in advance of actually attempting to install it.

However as a suggestion, when you make your purchase from a computer vendor, make sure you provide them all the information we have indicated. Make sure that they understand that you are not purchasing the computer to run MS-Office or to surf the Internet rather but rather to run a business with our special plug in board. Make sure they commit to swap their motherboard if needed until it works with the VoiceWorld package perfectly.
